Dialogue at the DS Corral

It's six o'clock in the evening, and everything is not O.K. at the Doubleshot Corral.

E: Wait. Where are the animals?

E: They can sneak off in the blink of an eye!

A: Here they are! They were hiding under my bottom.

A: You've all been bad animals.

A: Very bad.

E: I've got a great idea!

E: We've got all of these fencing options.
One should do the trick.

A: This one looks promising!

A: Yup. It's electrified.

E: Hmmm. I just don't know if it's enough...

E: Do you understand your job responsibilities?

After a long day on the job, "pardners" enjoy a cold one at the local watering hole.

Good dog.

Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa B for our "animals".
Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa A for our "corrals".

My Funny Valentines

Last week we had a photo shoot to attempt to woo our proposed Valentine's with pictures. Below are some out-takes.

The trick was to keep The Doubleshot entertaining themselves without having them realize they had been sequestered to a rather boring room that happened to have the best natural light.

"I know, girls, let's rock!"

Peek-a-boo!

A profound conversation I wasn't privy to.

Elli tries explaining it to my simple mind.

"I know, girls, let's sing!"

Anni's "Little Light"

Elli's "Little Light"
(Do you see where this is going?)

Jesus and boogers do have something in common.

"Just be natural, girls. Just be cute."

Love sister.

Bunny ears.

How about this pose, Mommy?
(NO. Not in this life time.)

Oh, did you say it was snack time?

No???! Waaaaaaaa!

"I know, Mommy. How about you entertain us?"

Amuse us now.

I boycott this.

I boycott this, too.

Handedness

My pediatrician recently informed me that in identical twinsets, one twin is typically right-handed and one is left-handed. This would also mean that one is left-brained and one is right-brained.

I have always known that the girls have very different personalities, strengths and intelligences (Gardner's learning styles), but I never really paid much attention to their handedness before.

It's true: Anni favors her left, and Elli favors her right.

I am able to get both girls to use either hand to feed themselves yogurt or oatmeal, but they will default to their favored hand. Here are some shots from their 3rd time scooping and feeding themselves with a spoon.

Not too big of a mess for Anni, even with her non-dominant hand.

It's difficult for Elli to keep her non-dominant hand from helping the spoon.

Here are some photos from yesterday when Anni shows off her left-handed skills, and Elli shows off her strong spatial/kinesthetic intelligence. (Anni is very logical/musical.)

Anni's record is 6 stacked on the coffee table, with a valiant attempt at 7.

Elli can carry stacks of blocks around the room
and sit down without dropping them.

Thanks for our awesome blocks, Aunt Liz and Uncle Dave!
And, thanks for our mad ambidextrous skills, Grandpa B!

Puzzled

The girls received their first puzzles for Christmas. They mastered this one fairly quickly, and can now identify squares and circles.

Anni putting the purple pentagon away.

Then, the other day, I asked Elli to put this set of blocks away. Moments later I found this!

Elli demonstrates her sweet spatial reasoning skills.

I dumped it out and she did it again!

Elli demonstrates patience, because Mommy
just dumped out her work and made her do it again.
(I actually had her do it 3 times!)

Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa B for the puzzle! And, a belated thanks to Auntie Jess for the beautiful Korean blocks!
